Enthralling and electrifying, 47soul السبعة و أربعين’s iconic ‘Shamstep’ style is a potent combination of electronic hip-hop and traditional Palestinian street music that has rapidly amassed fans in the Arab World and Europe by blasting their iconic Arabic Dabke sound.
Based in London, the members are rooted in Bilad Al-Sham, spanning the divides from Amman to the Galilee to Ramallah and the rest of the Palestinian Diaspora. Formed in Jordan in 2013, their signature sound/their high-energy music incorporates regional bass-heavy dance beats, analogue synthesisers and hypnotic hooks. Their lyrics, sung in both Arabic and English, have come to embody a captivating celebration of movement and an irrefutable call for freedom and equality. Over the past seven years, the band has played hundreds of international shows and festivals as well as bringing their iconic sound to NPR’s Tiny Desk and KEXP and racking up over 11 million views on their debut single ‘Intro To Shamstep’.
