A Celebration of the Spirit and Poetry of Taha Muhammad Ali

From touring Palestine to acclaimed international stages, award-winning Taha returns to London for one night only.

Since its 2014 debut in Haifa, Taha  has become one of the most successful and widely celebrated Palestinian theatrical performances of the last three decades. A lyrical tour de force written and performed by Amer Hlehel, the one-man play captures the remarkable life of the late Palestinian poet Taha Muhammad Ali, tracing his journey from a childhood in the village of Saffuriya through the displacement of the 1948 Nakba, to his emergence as a world-renowned literary voice.

Amer Hlehel’s Taha is a dramatic and lyrical tour de force… a delight for the mind and nourishment for the heart.” — Ayad Akhtar, 2013 Pulitzer Prize winner

Developed in part at the prestigious Sundance Institute Theatre Lab, this vivid monologue is a delicate balance of tragedy and triumph. It navigates a family’s struggle for survival against the backdrop of war with a surprising amount of humour, resilience, and “nourishment for the heart.”

Taha has captivated audiences across the globe, from the Young Vic in London and the Kennedy Center in Washington DC to major festivals in Edinburgh, Singapore, Australia, and throughout the Arabic-speaking world.

This show is fully in English.

This play will be followed by a Q&A with writer and performer, Amer Hlehel.
