Palestinian composer and viola soloist Samer Rashed returns to London with Strings of the Levant, blending Arabic maqam, Sahara-inspired rhythms and jazz improvisation. Featuring eight original works, the project explores identity and cultural dialogue through cinematic, emotionally rich performances rooted in Levantine musical traditions.

Palestinian composer and viola soloist Samer Rashed returns to London with his latest project, Strings of the Levant. Reaching international audiences through his collaboration on Season 2 of the acclaimed Netflix series Mo, Rashed presents a bold contemporary musical journey where Arabic maqam meets Sahara-inspired rhythms to create a rich, cinematic soundscape.

Built around eight original compositions, Strings of the Levant moves between hypnotic grooves, expansive improvisation and atmospheric textures. The music blends the warmth and ornamentation of Arabic traditions with the spontaneity of jazz, resulting in performances that are both deeply rooted and strikingly modern.

Through this work, Rashed continues to push beyond conventional genre boundaries, exploring themes of identity, movement and cultural dialogue. The result is a compelling contemporary performance that resonates across borders while remaining closely connected to the musical spirit of the Levant.

Born in Jerusalem, Rashed has developed a distinctive musical language shaped by Arabic musical heritage, Bedouin influences and global jazz expression. He has performed extensively across Palestine, Europe and the Arabic-speaking world, earning recognition for his powerful live performances and singular artistic voice.

This event will last for approximately 90 minutes without an interval.
