The award-winning singer, composer and flautist has become one of the most recognisable and iconic voices of a new generation of Palestinian artists.
Beginning her musical career at the age of 14, Barghouti brims with talent. Well known for her stunning rearrangements of iconic pieces from Umm Kulthum to Fairuz, her performances exude a musical brilliance and impeccable vocal control. More recently, Barghouti has infused her heritage with a novel harmony of jazz, new rhythms and a distinct roots-y sound, much of it compounded by many years of studying abroad, including the historic Jacobs School of Music in the US, the Amsterdam Conservatoire (from which she graduated in 2019), and she is currently pursuing a master’s degree in jazz.
Performing around the globe from Egypt to France and the UN headquarters in New York, Barghouti’s shows never fail to entice and captivate her listeners. For this London show, it is bound to be a new experience, whether for new listeners or her long-term supporters, as she will be performing select pieces from her new and unreleased projects, alongside her more well-known pieces.
