Marsm and Woodburner present:
47Soul ‘Balfron Promise’ Album Pre-Launch Party
Village Underground, London
Monday 9th October
Limited tickets available on the door.
Marsm & Woodburner present an exclusive pre-launch concert of 47Soul’s highly anticipated new album, ‘Balfron Promise’. To celebrate the upcoming release, 47Soul are taking over Village Underground for an unforgettable night of dabke, beats and bass. Supported by none other than the Bristol power-house Eva Lazarus and the global bass connoisseurs Love Carnival; come see for yourself how the soul of the 47 is turning heads and lifting spirits.
The much-awaited release of ‘Balfron Promise’ expands on the band’s pioneering genre of ShamStep, an infectious, cultural and musical homage to ‘Dabke’, the renowned traditional celebration music of the Shams (present-day area of Palestine, Lebanon, Jordan & Syria). Founded in 2013 in Amman, Jordan, 47Soul was born out of an eclectic combination of four musicians, each with unique musical backgrounds and stories that were united by their shared Palestinian heritage yet separated by the numerous borders that kept them apart. Musically & lyrically, Balfron Promise is a product of the band’s three year residency in London, a profoundly unique experience for the four members and their work. The album and themes are inspired by both modern-day London and the 100 year-old politics still influencing 47Soul’s story to this day. Socially topical and lyrically astute, Balfron Promise holds one promise, that their future will be written by no one but themselves.
With a big voice, big bass and a big afro, Bristol’s own Eva Lazarus arrives as a stellar addition to any party in motion. Tirelessly bouncing back from playing some of the biggest festivals names this year, (including Glastonbury, Outlook and Boomtown), her unique take on Reggae, Hip Hop, DnB, Jungle leaves a lasting impression on her audiences, hungry for a fresh sound, potent lyrics and a performance worth remembering.
Composed of the supreme team DJ Cal Jader and Selecta Madmax, their regular parties have brought global bass to the forefront of South-London’s party scene. From dembow to ragga, cumbia to afrohouse, they ensure they are always a beat ahead of anything you one could have expected.
16+ Each person under 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
Right of admission reserved.

Their short, eminently readable booklet, The Case for a Cultural Boycott of Israel, responds concretely to Palestinians’ appeal for a non-violent, rights-based movement for boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS).
